A night security guard at Berekum Senior High School (BESS) in the Bono Region has appealed for swift police investigations after he was allegedly assaulted by a group of students.
Kwame Ernest, speaking in an interview at Berekum, said the incident occurred on Wednesday, February 11, 2028, during the night following an inter-school football match. He was subsequently admitted to the Berekum Holy Family Catholic Hospital for medical treatment.
Recounting the incident, Mr Ernest said about eight students confronted him, questioning why he was strictly enforcing school rules that prevent students from leaving the premises at night. He alleged that, without provocation, the students some reportedly wearing face masks attacked him using pieces of wood and other objects, leaving him unconscious.
“I just realised that I was on admission at the hospital,” he said in a weak voice.
Mr Ernest stated that he was able to identify some of the alleged attackers and has called on the police to expedite investigations and ensure justice is served.
He added that some school authorities, including the headmaster, visited him during his hospitalisation. Police investigations into the incident are expected to continue.
