In a bid to promote agricultural productivity and prosperity among young women, Newage Agric Solutions Ltd, in collaboration with Chi-Gaba, an out-grower scheme management company, has successfully organized a two-day alternative livelihood skills training for 200 young female farmers under the Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY) Programme. The training, which took place in a local community center, aimed to equip the participants with the necessary skills to diversify their income streams and improve their overall well-being.
The HAPPY Programme, an initiative of Newage Agric Solutions Ltd, seeks to harness the potential of young people in agriculture by providing them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and support to become successful farmers and entrepreneurs. According to Ms. Ama Serwaa, Project Coordinator of the HAPPY Programme, "the programme is designed to address the challenges faced by young people in agriculture, including limited access to land, finance, and markets. We believe that by empowering young women with alternative livelihood skills, we can help them to overcome these challenges and achieve their full potential."
Training Overview
The two-day training covered a range of topics, including poultry farming, beekeeping, and food processing. The participants were also taught how to make handicrafts, such as baskets and pottery, which can be sold to generate additional income. Mr. Kwame Owusu, a trainer at Chi-Gaba, noted that "the training was designed to be practical and interactive, with a focus on hands-on activities and group discussions. We wanted to ensure that the participants gained the skills and confidence they need to start their own businesses and become successful entrepreneurs."
During the training, the participants were also given the opportunity to share their experiences and challenges, and to learn from one another.
"I was really inspired by the stories of the other participants, and I learned a lot from their experiences," said Akua Mensah, a 25-year-old farmer from a local community. "I am excited to apply the skills I have learned to my own farm and to start my own business. I believe that this training has given me the tools I need to succeed and to improve my life."
Partnership and Funding
The training was made possible through a partnership between Newage Agric Solutions Ltd and Chi-Gaba, with funding from a local non-governmental organization. Mr. Francis Addo, Managing Director of Newage Agric Solutions Ltd, expressed his gratitude to the funding organization, saying that "we are grateful for the support we have received, which has enabled us to provide this training to 200 young women. We believe that this investment will have a positive impact on the lives of the participants and their communities, and we look forward to continuing our partnership in the future."
The partnership between Newage Agric Solutions Ltd and Chi-Gaba is a significant one, as it brings together two organizations with a shared vision of promoting agricultural productivity and prosperity among young people. Ms. Abena Agyeiwaa, Managing Director of Chi-Gaba, noted that "our partnership with Newage Agric Solutions Ltd is a strategic one, as it allows us to leverage our expertise and resources to achieve greater impact. We are committed to working together to support the development of young people in agriculture, and we look forward to exploring new opportunities for collaboration in the future."
