Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has announced that he will donate two months of his salary to the newly created Sports Fund after the Parliament of Ghana passed the Sports Fund Bill.
Addressing lawmakers on the floor of Parliament, Mr Adams described the establishment of the fund as a significant move aimed at transforming sports development in the country and providing a reliable source of funding for athletes and sporting federations.
He explained that his decision to contribute two months of his salary is a personal show of commitment to the initiative and an appeal to other stakeholders to support efforts to advance sports development in Ghana.
The Sports Fund is anticipated to function as a dedicated financing mechanism to bolster grassroots sports programmes, develop sporting infrastructure, support athlete training and preparation, and promote sporting excellence across the country.
